Daily Beauty Tip #1

Mascara Application Tips

I know most of you may look at this and think, 'What? We all know how to apply mascara, I learn't when I was, like, 6.' I'm really not saying you don't, I just want to share with you all a few tips that I have picked up, mainly from Mum! Hope you get something out of this.
  • The one thing I want to stress about to all the females out there is NOT to pump the wand up and down. This is pushing air into the tube which is a cause of clumping. Instead, gently twist the wand round and round to pick up the product.
  • When curling your lashes, you could heat them up with a hairdryer (obviously not so they're burning- about 3-5 seconds), this really helps my lashes get that lovely flicked look.
  • If you're not good at applying to the bottom lashes, place a tissue underneath.
  • For a steady hand, tilt the wand slightly.
  • Don't be afraid to use different mascaras at the same time, there's nothing wrong with it.
  • To brush your lashes when mascara has applied, instead of using a specific brush, get an old mascara and clean the wand in a cap-full of makeup remover then wash with soap and dry. But remember to keep it clean and treat it the same as a makeup brush.
  • If you zig-zag the wand when applying, it seems to prevent clumps for me.
  • If applying more than one coat, make sure the previous one is dry first, this causes clumps.

When shall I throw out my mascara?

Well mascara is the one makeup product in your bag you need to keep an eye on. Bacteria literally breed there. Most mascaras with a tube and wand have an antibacterial agent in them (this should last about 6 weeks) making it safe to used one mascara for about four months. You're risking an eye infection the longer you keep them, and you don't want one of those. My friend had an eye infection caused by a nasty mascara, I wouldn't wish it on anyone! If the smell or texture changes, bin it, it's not worth it.

January Favourites

Hey everyone! Well that's it, January is now over. The post-Christmas anti-climax dull month. In all honestly, I haven't had the best January but roll on Spring is what I'm thinking. It's time for my first ever monthly favourite post for the new year! So here's what I've been loving and why....

Beauty Favourites

GHD's
I received these beauties for Christmas and have never owned a good pair of straighteners. These were the scarlet deluxe ones and I was so happy to get them. They work so well and are really worth paying the money. The set came with a travel hairdryer and other bit, may do a review soon.

Soap and Glory- Hand Food
This product smells good and it actually makes my hands soft and non-greasy which makes it an all around great product. It's the best inexpensive hand cream I have tried and am on my second tube. I have been completely obsessed with the smell over the Winter!

Benefit- High Beam
I'm sure you all know/ have this product. I use it every day on my cheeks as a highlighter and I don't feel right without it! It's a pink liquid that creates a radiant, dewy complexion for my angelic looking smile... Haha yeah right.

Vera Wang Perfume- Princess
I bought this in the Summer at an airport and this month it has been my go-to scent. The bottle is eye catching, and although it was £33, the not-to-sweet gorgeous scent is so addictive!

No7 Nail Varnish
Milan 110- This has to be one of my most loved nail polishes. I advise to apply two coats and this is the result! It dries pretty quickly and doesn't chip easily.

Non-Beauty Favourites

Alt-J
I love listening to their new album when I'm driving. Their sound is so fresh and different and I love the whole album, I reccomend having a listen. And they're in Reading festival...!

Nebula
So Nebula is a local band that one of my friends belong too (he plays the drums). Listen to there three songs over and over again. The song 'Cloud 9' is amazing. Please have a listen on iTunes and if you like them, feel free to buy there EP!

Yoo Moo
If you haven't tried this, you need to. It's frozen yogurt, healthier than ice cream and my favourite flavour is the strawberry one. It just tastes amazing.

Twitter & Instagram
Since I have been so busy with work, exams blah blah, I have not had any spare time at all. Now that I do, I am back on Instagram and Twitter! Please follow me, I follow back!

Temple Run 2
Who doesn't love this? It's so addictive and quick to play (and it's free!). I get it out in College, on a bus and play it in bed! Currently saving for a new character...

Topshop Scarf
I have been wearing this nearly every day since I purchased it. So comfy, thick and I think the colour is really lovely. Plus it was in the sale.

Beauty Note: Sweet Dreams

There's a reason they call it "beauty sleep". Getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night can actually improve your appearance. While you're dreaming of Prince Charming, your own magical body releases human growth hormones, which help you body create collagen, which gives your skin strength and elasticity. Also, while you are sleeping, your skin cells are regenerating and all the muscles in your face that create wrinkles begins to relax.

While the recommended hours of sleep you should be getting each night is between 7 and 9, this just simply isn't a reality for some of you busy beauties. So just think of this as a reason to catch up on weekends. According to FITNESS Magazine, when you have been asleep for only 5 hours “Your skin’s temperature reaches its lowest point and your muscles relax, giving skin its deepest recovery.” So hit the snooze button and dream a little longer.
